Author Feature: Stacey Rourke

Hiya! Today we have an author feature.

Meet Stacey Rourke! She is an award winning, best-selling author, yet

her quirky writing style and personality has her better known for her

irrational fear of garden gnomes and her insistence that pretty shoes actually

call out to her as she shops. That said, if you like books with a heap of

action, a swirl of suspense, a dash of romance, and a slathering of snappy

one-liners, Stacey’s books might be the right recipe for you! Without further

ado, let’s explore the works of this twistedly, fun ginger!

In the literary world, Stacey is probably best known for her

Legends Saga. This suspenseful literary adventure dares to ask the question;

what if the best fiction had dark roots of truth? It kicks off with Crane, a

modern day spin on the Legends of Sleepy Hollow. Things delve into the macabre in

Raven, book 2, where the works of Edgar Allen Poe are weaved together into an

intricate tapestry. The third book, Steam, combines the writings of HG Wells

and Nathaniel Hawthorne into a backstory filled with witchcraft and time travel.

In between writing the Legends Saga, Stacey admits to

needing a “mental health” break from the dark and maniacal.  Her pallet cleanser came in the form of the

light-hearted romantic comedy, Adapted for Film. Set in Hollywood, we travel

along with International Best-Selling Author, Aubrey Evans, as her blockbuster

book is made into a major motion picture. But when she and the director begin

butting heads over how to bring the book to life the studio takes drastic measures

to save the flailing film. Will Aubrey find her happy ending in the City of

Angels? Or will the credits roll on all she has worked for?

Where it all started: The Gryphon Series

Stacey entered the literary world with this YA fantasy

series filled with shapeshifters, dragons, pirates, demons, and the horrifying

image of grandma in a leopard print bikini! Yikes. The lives of three siblings

are turned upside down when they suddenly find themselves linked to the

mystical creature known as the Gryphon; oldest brother, Gabe, takes the form of

a lion, the youngest of the trio, Kendall, grows the wings of an eagle, and middle

child, Celeste, becomes his Conduit—the Celtic warrior fated to save us all.

Together, they must battle the forces of darkness, all while getting on each

other’s last nerve.

Death’s Reject

Title: Death’s Reject
Author: C L Foltermann
Genre: YA Paranormal Thriller
Release Date: January 15, 2016
What do demons, vampires and secret societies have in common? They are all incredibly real, insanely dangerous and they all want a taste of her.
After a gruesome reveal of the world lurking within her own, Christina Liam decides her penchant for solving problems with violence finally has a use. Jumping head first into a spiraling world of mayhem and horror, Chris finds her magnetism for trouble only seems to pull her deeper into the darkness. She struggles to cope with her new living nightmare and her humanity, a balancing act she’s not sure she can keep up.
But the battle within her is nothing compared to the creature eating her classmates one by one. Through stupidity or resolve, whichever works faster, she is going to get them back.
Even if it kills her.

People were screaming in the semi-darkness around them, cast into the shadows by the shattered lights. Chris could only see by the light of the monster forming in front of her as Zachary pulled her away. No, that wasn’t right. Not a monster. Monsters. There were three distinct images flickering before her eyes. Christina clawed up the arm pulling her to safety to get to her feet. Zach swore loudly and they stopped in the rush of people trying to escape from the room. The tallest of the three beasts turned with red eyes to analyze her as the light that had brought him to the cafeteria dimmed. The way he stared, the grimace she assumed was a warped smile, it made her stomach turn on itself. “Run!”

C L Foltermann is a fiction novelist and freelance writer. She currently resides in South Portland, Maine with her husband and dog and enjoys the good things in life: food, whiskey, and writing. She is currently finalizing the second book in her The Liam Chronicles series, Monstrous, as well as several more exciting new projects.

Author Bio:

Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.

Seven Questions with Lila:

What would you be doing right now if you were not an author?

If I were not an author, I would still be editing books for indie authors and loving every second of it.

5 years ago: what were you doing?

Five years ago, I was working nights at Wal-Mart in their cash office, counting tons of money every night.

Do you have a certain writing ritual?

My writing ritual is to listen to some inspiring music for about a half hour or read some before starting. After that, I try to write whenever I can, sneaking in the time gaps in our schedules.

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?

My toughest criticism has been that my endings aren’t always what the reader expected. I see this as a criticism and a compliment. I don’t really want to write what everyone expects.

Ever fangirled over another author? Who was it?

Absolutely! I’ve totally fan-girled over so many authors. I’m first and foremost a reader after all! It was actually Shelly Crane. I flew to Florida to see her and wigged out hard.

Is there an author you’d like to meet?

I would love to meet Jay Asher. 13 Reasons Why is a book that continues to impact my life every day. It makes me think about who I am and how I treat others in every situation. He’s a brilliant author. I’d probably faint.

Biggest writing pet peeve?

My biggest writing peeve is that horrible little word count box at the bottom of the page. Once I learned to make that sucker go away, I was in heaven.

Do you read other’s reviews of your books?

I read other’s reviews of my books in the first month of their release. After that, I check them every 6 months or so. It can be painful and humbling to see what others think of our books.

Fall With Me Release Day

Hiya all!
JLA has a new release today. Check it out!
Someone—was it Melvin?—catcalled as Reece led me down the hall, and my cheeks flushed. “Okay, heman, I can walk all by my little self.”

He cast a look over his shoulder at me as he opened the office door. “I’m sure you can.”

Then he pulled me inside.

My gaze flipped to the roses—the roses!—but before I could say a word, he closed the door and my back was pressed against it, his hands planted on either side of my head and his face right in mine. Like right there, within kissing distance.

“So, I was at my father’s place in New Jersey most of the day, and you know, he lives out near the Pine Barrens, so service is shit.”

I nodded even though I really wasn’t processing what he was saying as I was too busy staring at his mouth. Those lips, fuller on the bottom, drove me to distraction.

“I pull out of his driveway and I have all these messages from Dennis,” he continued, and I finally caught on to what he was talking about. “I honestly thought he was messing with me at first.”

I cringed. “He . . . um, he wasn’t.”

He shot me a bland look. “That much I figured out.” His hands slid on the door, stopping just shy of touching my shoulders. “What did he do to you?”

“What?” I blinked.

“What did that bastard do to make you throw a book through his windshield?”

Oh. Oh. My heart was now wiggling along with my stomach. “He really didn’t do anything. I just lost my cool. He wanted to talk to me, and I didn’t want to talk to him.”

“You don’t have to talk to him.”

“That’s what Dennis said, but I shouldn’t have damaged his car.”

A muscle flexed along his right jaw. “That’s true.” He shook his head. “Damn, Roxy, can’t say I’m surprised.”

My brows flew up. “You’re not?”

He laughed under his breath. “Babe, you’ve always had a hell of a temper on you.”

Ah, that was kind of true. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”

Reece cocked his head to the side. “A sexy thing, but vandalism and destruction of property doesn’t look good on you, sweets.”

“No. It doesn’t match my manicure.” I raised my hands, flashing him the blue nails.

He laughed again and then he sobered up, just like that. Cop Face was on, and yeah . . . the low coiling in my stomach told me I found Cop Face arousing. “You’re lucky. He could’ve pressed charges, and this conversation would be going in a whole different direction.”

My own half smile slipped off my face. “I know. It’s . . . I was just with Charlie, and he’s . . .” Unable to continue, I forced a casual shrug I didn’t feel. “What are you going to do with me?”

His lips parted as his chest rose with a deep breath, then his gaze dropped to my mouth, and his expression tightened. He looked . . . he looked hungry. “I have lots of ideas.”

FALL WITH ME Synopsis:
Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. She’s sworn him off forever, but the past and future collide, forcing her to rely on the one man who broke her heart not once, but twice.

Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. She’s not sure she has room for forgiveness in her and when she begins to receive frightening messages and is on the receiving end of escalating violence, she thinks she knows who is to blame. The man who already destroyed one life already.

But Reece isn’t convinced. The threats are too personal, and even if Roxy doesn’t believe him, he’s not willing to let anyone hurt her. Including himself. He’s already messed up more than once when it comes to Roxy and he’s not going to let history repeat itself.

#Player ARC review + Giveaway + Playlist

Title: #Player
Series: Hashtag Series
Author: Cambria Hebert
Genre: NA Contemp/College Romance
Release Date: March 9, 2015
Hiya everyone!
#Player is live!  Went live a day early, in fact!  So exciting! Romeo and Rimmel’s story is complete, though the series will continue on with #Selfie featuring Braeden.

Players gotta play.

Hate is like a poison. It contaminates everything.
So does doubt.
Even though I deny what I overheard, even though I insist it isn’t true, the seed of doubt has been planted. I can’t help but be tormented with the endless what-if’s that have taken over our lives.
Romeo and I were happy in love. The future stretched before us brighter than any star in the darkest sky. Now everything is broken. Literally broken. Romeo’s entire career is at stake, my entire future is threatened… and my past?
It’s coming back to haunt me.
To haunt us.
Romeo says we’re in this together and right now the only sure thing is us. But how far can a love so new be pushed? The lengths we will have to go to save each other puts everything at risk.

Romeo is a #player but how much of the game can one person play?

 My Review:

(For those who haven’t yet read #Nerd and #Hater, there will be some spoilers)

So much love for #Player.  So.  Much.  So many feels. Player picks up right where Hater left off, at the Hospital with Romeo and Rimmel dealing with the aftermath of Zach’s attack.  Kicks you right in the gut with all the feels right from the beginning.  Seriously, it’s rough.  Many tears were shed here during the reading of Player.  Don’t worry, there’s plenty happy tears as well as sad ones.  There are books you read, books that speak to you, and books you live.  Nerd and Hater spoke to me deeply, but I really lived Player.  It sucked me in and took me for a ride in the world of Alpha U.  I have some major love for this world and the characters.  Some people (who clearly don’t understand my bookish ways) might say that I’m overly attached to a certain #Nerd and her #Player and a certain BBFL.

Braeden makes an entrance in true Braeden fashion, and right off the bat he made me cry.  Cannot wait for his story.  Anymore than I could wait for Player.  It was well worth the wait, as I’ve come to expect from Cambria.  As I said, there were tears and feels.  Giggles and one particular heart-stopping moment.  Literally.  I swear my heart stopped.  I was so in the moment.  Had to literally set down my Kindle a couple of times just for a breather.  We see Rome and Rim struggle to find their footing in more ways than one, Braeden and Ivy clash, the resolution of the Zach situation, secrets and lies and truths that could ruin everything for everyone.  All and all, Player was everything I hoped for and so much more.  I think we all need a Romeo.  And a Braeden, too.  Rim’s one lucky, lucky girl.  Even when she’s having a bad day, which are fairly plentiful throughout. But don’t take my word for it! Go read it yourself.  After all, if you review it this week, Cambria offers a very nice reward. (See below). Also, go check out the giveaway.  It’s pretty sa-weet!

Cambria Hebert is a bestselling novelist of more than twenty books. She went to college for a bachelor’s degree, couldn’t pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair.
Besides writing, Cambria loves a caramel latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching movies. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chorkie (the real boss of the house).
Cambria has written within the young adult and new adult genres, penning many paranormal and contemporary titles. Her favorite genre to read and write is romantic suspense. A few of her most recognized titles are: Text, Torch, Tryst, Masquerade, and Recalled.

Zoey Daniels has been tossed from foster home to foster home, where she grows up fast and tough. When she is placed in her “last-chance” home, she finds a reason to stay and turn her life around: her foster sister, Lexie, who is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Zoey will do anything to keep her safe.

After high school, Zoey is hired by a special government agency, the Department of Molecular Genetics (DMG), where she meets the other reason to remain: Daniel, her co-worker. The man she loves.
But there is something unique about Zoey. She can see fae. Because of this, the DMG hires her to work as a Collector: catching, researching, testing, and using the fae to save human lives. The work never registers on her sympathy radar. She was raised to think of fae as beasts that feed on humans and want to destroy them.
When devastation hits Seattle, Zoey’s whole world is turned upside down. The electric storm connects her to a ruthless fae, a Wanderer named Ryker, whose
dealings expose them to even more trouble and danger. They embark on a journey,
running and hiding from both the government and fae, both of which threaten their
lives and those they love.
