Waiting on Wendsday

So, I haven’t done a waiting on post for awhile, but there’s so many books out in the next month or so.
First, Cora Carmack’s Inspire. Now, granted, it came out this week, but I don’t have my copy yet. Let’s have a teaser for it, because it promises awesome:

Dead of Winter, the 3rd installment of Kresley Cole’s Arcana Chronicles us out Jan. 6th
#Hater by Cambria Hebert is out the 12th
And of course, Jennifer Armentrout has Every Last Breath and Torn out next summer. Can’t wait!
So, here’s another Inspire teaser, and one from Hater because I’m uber excited for them both!

And, because I love Jen, have a Wicked teaser, too. I’ll have a review up for that soon.

Happy Readings!

Touch of Frost and January Black re-release

So, Lynn Rush and Wendy Russo have releases today!  Or rather, re-releases. And a FB party!  Check em out

I am re-releasing January Black in print on the 15th, and Kindle on the 25th. Purchasers of the print copy will be able to pickup a Kindle copy for $0.99, and members of Amazon Prime will be able to read the book for free via Kindle Unlimited until March 25, 2015.

January Black Blurb:
Sixteen-year-old genius Matty Ducayn is the son of The Hill’s commandant. As such, he’s expected to conform to a strict, unspoken code of conduct. Small acts of defiance over years—such as walking on the grass—have earned him a reputation for being unruly. When sarcastic test answers finally get Matty expelled from school, King Hadrian offers him a diploma if he can answer a deceptively simple question, and then dismisses the only answer.

To prove his worth to society, Matty wrestles with the king’s word games, the kingdom’s historical record, and laws that don’t make sense. He meets Iris Locke, a street smart gardener, along the way. After enchanting him at a glance, Iris helps his research, keeps him out of trouble, and finally breaks his heart.

Alone again, Matty finds himself on collision course with a deadly law, one he will have to break to answer the king’s question. Was Hadrian challenging him, or teaching him a lesson? Without Iris, it won’t matter, because Matty won’t stand down for anyone else.

January Black is the 2013 Readers’ Favorite Silver Medal winner for YA-Coming of Age.

Wendy’s BIO

Wendy S. Russo got her start writing in the sixth grade. That story involved a talisman with crystals that had to be found and assembled before bad things happened, and dialog that read like classroom roll call. Since then, she’s majored in journalism (for one semester), published poetry, taken a course on short novels, and watched most everything ever filmed by Quentin Tarantino. A Wyoming native transplanted in Baton Rouge, Wendy works for Louisiana State University as an IT analyst. She’s a wife, a mom, a Tiger, a Who Dat, and she falls asleep on her couch at 8:30 on weeknights.

I have three novels releasing on the 15th–The Touch of Frost Trilogy. Originally they were released Amazon (digital) Only. But now, it’s everywhere, **including print**. So, since three books can be overwhelming, feel free to just focus on the Frostbite cover if that works for you. I’ll send a graphic that has all three covers on it.  🙂

Frostbite (Touch of Frost #1)

–Book Trailer here: http://youtu.be/azsucCVtXL4?list=UUjjm2Iqo7D67gGnKG17tv2g

Amanda gives a whole new meaning to cool…

Amanda Smith is sick of getting chased from town-to-town. So when she lands in tiny Trifle, Arizona, she hopes it’s her last move for a long time. Despite hating the smallness of the town, she settles in and finds a best friend, and even a boyfriend. Normality at its finest.

But for a girl who can shoot snow from her hands and lift a two-ton truck over her head like a bag of feathers—normal is not an option.

The scientists who murdered her mother come barreling into Amanda’s quiet life. She must decide if she’ll run again or stay and fight. The price of either choice might be her life or the lives of those she’s come to love…

Absolute Zero (Touch of Frost #2):

Death may be the only way I can live…

The Center is destroyed. Mandy and Georgia have their own place near campus and are ready to start their new lives as college students. All that’s missing is Mandy’s steamy relationship with Zach. His sudden distance and irritability has Mandy wondering…and possibly wandering.

Nate Ashcroft, a beautiful, but mysterious, guy literally falls into Mandy’s life, shattering her already unstable relationship with Zach. When an unknown agency sets its targets on Mandy and Georgia, ugly truths of Mandy’s powers, her parents’ deaths and the people she’s chosen to trust send her life into a tailspin.

One only her death can stop.

Cryostorm (Touch of Frost #3):

They made his body, she’ll awaken his soul…

Three months ago, my twin sister, Georgia, and I had to die so our loved ones would be safe from the scientists hunting us. After months of searching, we’re close to finding the one person who can help us find closure, Georgia’s adoptive mother, Lois.

Snowstorms and an unexpected run-in with GenCorp, the latest entity charged with capturing us, delay our mission and break our spirits. The only light in my supernaturally chaotic life is Nate. He’s given up everything to protect and take care of me, and each minute I’m with him confirms how much I love him. Finally ready to share my heart again, I take the next step, admitting my true feelings.

The mad scientists who want to tear me apart and use my body for a freak show, once again taint my happiness with a disturbing technology that rips Nate from my arms. As I battle GenCorp’s warped technology to save my soulmate, I’m faced with the vivid reality: the Nate I knew and fell in love with may be lost forever.

And if I get him back, will I still be able to say those three precious words?

Karen Lynch Double feature: Relentless and Refuge

Hiya! In honor of Karen’s new release (I know, I’m a few days late), I’m posting reviews for both Relentless and the sequel Refuge. I devoured both, and Karen leaves her readers (or at least me) absolutely ravenous for more. I was lucky enough to be included on her launch team and received an ARC of Refuge.
So, first, Relentless.

Sara Grey’s world shattered ten years ago when her father was brutally murdered. Now at seventeen, she is still haunted by memories of that day and driven by the need to understand why it happened. She lives a life full of secrets and her family and friends have no idea of the supernatural world she is immersed in or of Sara’s own very powerful gift.

In her quest for answers about her father’s death, Sara takes risks that expose her and her friends to danger and puts herself into the sights of a sadistic vampire. On the same fateful night she meets Nikolas, a warrior who turns Sara’s world upside down and is determined to protect her even if it’s the last thing she wants.

Sara’s life starts to spin out of control as she is hunted by an obsessed vampire, learns that her friends have secrets of their own and reels from the truth about her own ancestry. Sara has always been fiercely independent but in order to survive now she must open herself to others, to reveal her deepest secrets. And she must learn to trust the one person capable of breaking down the walls around her.
Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
6 stars! Five is not enough. I’d give it a million, but I don’t think I have that much space. Haven’t been so thoroughly drawn into a New world since a picked up Shadow Falls. Action, shady dealings, and fantastic, fascinating creatures right from the beginning. Sara is a wonderful heroine with a great many strengths and natural flaws. Stubborn and strong, I love watching her go toe to toe with everyone and doing what she feels is right no matter what. Plus we get Roland, broody Nikolas, and Dimples ;). After reading this, I was absolutely ravenous for Refuge. Karen Lynch writes fantastic fiction, and I can’t wait to she what she has in store for us next!

And now Refuge! Let’s start with a teaser:

To keep the people she loves safe, Sara left everything she knew behind. She soon learns this new world is nothing like her old one, and she struggles to make a place for herself among the Mohiri. But it soon becomes apparent to Sara and to everyone one around her that she is not your typical warrior.

As the weeks pass, Sara builds new relationships, copes with her new trainers, and tries to manage her ever-changing powers, while keeping her unique heritage a secret. Looming in the background is the constant shadow of the Master who will do anything to find her.

Sara finds herself on a journey of self-discovery that uncovers her true strengths and awakens a part of her she never knew existed. She experiences the delight of new friendships, the sweetness and pain of first love, and a loss so deep it could be the thing that finally breaks her. At the end of it all, she discovers that the one place she was supposed to be safe might not be the refuge she thought it was.

Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
6 stars again. I’d put more, because it absolutely deserves it, but breaking the 5 star system says it all, right?
If Relentless was spark, Refuge is fireworks. Action every time you turn the page, new friends, enemies, family, and creatures that will keep you up reading long after you promise yourself “just a few more minutes”. Its a thrilling ride, full of sizzle, spunk, revelations, new faces, secrets, heartache, and betrayals. I love each and every one of Sara’s new friends every bit as much as I fell for the original crew in Relentless. And the sparks fly, in more ways than one ;).
Eagerly awaiting news of book 3, here, and I encourage my followers to pick up Relentless while it’s free, as well as snatch up copies of Refuge while they’re at it!
Karen Lynch is quite the mistress of storytelling, and I quite rabidly await whatever she has for us next, be it Sara, Jordon, Madeline, or a new world entirely!
How about one more teaser before you go:

#Nerd by Cambria Hebert

A new adult college romance from author Cambria Hebert.

Two people from completely different worlds are about to be thrown together…

In more ways than one.

She wants to keep her scholarship. He wants to stay on the team. An awkward alliance doesn’t even begin to cover Rimmel and Romeo’s relationship.

But that’s about to change.

It starts with a dare. An initiation. A challenge.

Quickly, it turns into more. But when you’re a victim of your status, there is no room for anything real. The rules are clear and simple.

Stick to your circle.

And never fall in love with anyone on the outside.

My Review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Loved this! So much. I can’t believe that I waited so long to pick up a copy. Stayed up all night reading. The story is consuming, the characters compelling, and the alternate POV was a marvelous choice. I laughed, and cried, and fell in love with Rimmel and Romeo. Not once does #Nerd disappoint and I’m already eagerly awaiting #Hater.

Wicked Release week blitz!

Hiya peeps! Wicked is live this week! Who else is excited? Show of hands.

Now, for the excerpts and synopsis.

WICKED Excerpt:

He left me standing there as he disappeared into the bathroom, and I tried to make sense of what just happened. All I knew was that the punch-in-the-chest sadness that came whenever I thought of Shaun wasn’t there. And I didn’t know what to make of that.

Or anything.

Taking a deep breath, I put my clothes on his dresser and all but dashed into the bed, and good Lord, the mattress was comfy! I scooted to the middle and froze, having no idea what side he slept on or if he had a side. I totally had a side—always the furthest away from closet doors because I was a dork. Straightening the shirt out so my undies weren’t saying hi to the world, I tugged the blanket up to my hips and lay flat on my back.

I so needed an adult to explain to me what the hell I was supposed to do from this point on.

There wasn’t much time to stress over it because Ren returned from the bathroom. His ever-present half grin spread as he saw me. I clutched the blanket, my breath caught in my throat. My heart pounded so fast that I wondered if I was going to have a heart attack, and God, wouldn’t that be embarrassing. I swallowed nervously and willed my heart to slow.

Turning off the lamp, shadows fell around Ren, but when he faced me, I could tell that he’d frozen. I couldn’t make out his expression as he bent, taking a hold of the covers on his side.

He slowly edged the covers back from his side and climbed in, and although I couldn’t make out his eyes, I knew he was watching me. “I’m happy that you’re here.”

My fingers eased off the blanket.

As he stretched out beside me, my eyes adjusted to the lack of light, and I could see that he was smiling. “Are you?”

“Yeah,” I whispered.

“Good. That’s all I wanted to hear.”

Wow, the warmth that flooded my chest could’ve turned me into a puddle of goo in that bed. I waited for him to make a move on me, but seconds ticked by. He seriously was behaving himself. I dared a quick peek at him, and found I could not look away.

Ren lifted his arm closest to me, and a heartbeat passed. I hesitated for a moment, and then, my heart pounding even more, I slid over until my leg brushed his. He curved his arm around my waist and drew me up against his side, guiding me down until I was nestled against his warm, bare chest. Another moment passed and then I lowered my cheek, and the simple pleasure of lying like this nearly broke me right open.

WICKED Synopsis:

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

Happy Readings,

Hansel 4 is Live! ARC review and release week blitz

Hiya guys!
For those of you who are legal (18 and up only please, this is dark erotica), check out Ella James’s newest twisted fairy tale, Hansel. As with her previous fairy tale serials, there are 4 parts (so far it says, sign up for Ella’s newsletter to keep posted!) and part 1 is free.

Hansel is the story of Leah and Hansel/Edgar/Luke (which name is really his? read to find out). In part one, Leah finds Hansel again after years of searching for him. In part two, he tries to push her away after finding out who she is. In part three, she fights to keep him. And in part four, he starts fighting too.
Full of twists and surprises, Hansel is well worth the read, and a brilliant rummaging of a classic tale.
There is a man, a woman, a sex club, and a mask. There’s pain, and pleasure, love, and secrets. A past shared, a present in flux, and a question of the future. With all the secrets and all the lies, where is the breaking point? Who will break, and who will bend? And in the end, will a fragile love survive the weight of the past?

Review (caution, a couple early part spoilers forthcoming) :
Part four of Hansel is just as gripping ad the remainder of the serial, well worth the wait and just as full of surprises as parts 1-3.
Luke and Leah are both fighting now, to hold on and to let go. But Mother’s house still has a dark hold over them both, and the weight of the secrets threatens to break them both beyond repair. Luke remains determined to let Leah go, as her determination to hold onto him grows fiercer. When Luke’s secrets begin to come to light, their fragile peace shatters about them.
I loved this serial, and even I didn’t see all the twists that came. I adore Luke and Leah, and I love them together. All that growth they achieve just by fighting for and pushing past what they already have. Watching the lies unravel and the secrets come out, I rooted for them all the way. I cried, I ached, I smiled. Ella James never disappoints, as she’s proved yet again with this newest chapter of Luke and Leah’s story. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
(6 stars. My rating scale is broken by my love of this book)
A huge thank you to Ella for letting me be on her launch team and providing ARCs for review.
Now, for those of you who have been waiting for part 4, it’s live! And for those of you unfamiliar with the story so far, pick up part one…it’s freeee. Just like the first parts of Red and Beast are.
Happy Readings,
